Latest Update

Dear Sir/Madam,

As you are probably aware, the NU Healthworks sports facility is due to close at the end of the month. The Healthworks Action Committee have been working very hard to access running costs in order to attract a new operator before the closure date.

Unfortunately due to the very unreasonable notice of closure from NU (twelve weeks) and the fact that NU have taken ten of these weeks to release the utility costs, it is now clear despite several notes of interest from various parties that we will be unsuccessful within this timescale.

We are, however, very confident that Healthworks can be saved in the long term. We have entered the final figures into our financial model and our five year business plan is now complete.

We now feel the only realistic short term option, however, is for the Council to step in and keep the facility running until the committee either attracts a new private operator or consortium taken from existing notes of interest or companies yet to be approached with the business plan or organises a members buyout, as you will appreciate, the latter options will take time to put in place.

Please find attached a copy of the letter written to B Malone for info, it gives you the very worrying facts and figures. Also attached is this weeks press report for info
